Foreword

At the beginning of the 21st century, nuclear technology has an important contribution to support the global expansion of electric energy demand, as well as providing a new, highly qualified pattern in goods and services. Concerning this appeal, Brazilian Nuclear
Energy Association - ABEN is promoting the
4th International Nuclear Atlantic Conference - INAC 2009, to be held in Rio de Janeiro at the Windsor Barra Hotel Convention Center, from September 27 to October 2, 2009, with the theme “Innovations in Nuclear Technology for
a Sustainable Future”.
The Conference will comprise three independent, but complementary technical meetings, the XVI ENFIR, the IX ENAN and
the I ENIN, together with the Junior Poster Technical Sessions and the ExpoINAC 2009.
